Helping Kids Build Confidence, Connection, and Emotional Skills This March Break

March Break can be a wonderful time for children to rest, recharge, and explore new experiences. It can also be a valuable opportunity for kids to build important life skills that support their emotional well-being, friendships, and confidence. At Art of Living Psychotherapy Services, we are excited to offer a four-day Psychoeducational Group Therapy Program for children ages 7–12, taking place March 17–20 from 12:00–3:00 PM at 6733 Mississauga Rd., 7th Floor, Room 54 in Mississauga.

This small-group program is led by a Registered Psychotherapist and is designed to provide children with practical tools to better understand their emotions, communicate effectively with others, and develop stronger social and self-regulation skills. With only 10 spots available, the program ensures a supportive and engaging environment where children can learn, connect, and grow together. Our small group format helps create a comfortable, welcoming environment where children can participate without feeling intimidated, while allowing our team to provide personalized guidance and attention to each child.

Why We Created This Program

Many children experience challenges that can impact their confidence, emotional regulation, or relationships with peers. These challenges may show up as worries about school or social situations, difficulty expressing emotions appropriately, struggles with making or maintaining friendships, or challenges with staying motivated and focused. While these experiences are common in childhood development, children often benefit from structured guidance to help them build the skills they need to navigate these situations successfully.

Our March Break program was designed to provide early support and skill-building in a safe, encouraging group setting, where children can practice new strategies alongside peers who may be experiencing similar challenges. Group programs can be especially powerful because they allow children to learn through interaction, shared experiences, and real-time social practice, helping them gain confidence in a natural and supportive environment.

What Children Will Learn

Throughout the four-day program, participants will engage in interactive discussions, activities, and guided exercises that focus on key areas of emotional and social development.

  1. Managing Worries

Children will learn age-appropriate strategies for understanding and managing anxious thoughts. We help children recognize when worries show up and introduce practical tools to help them feel more in control of their emotions.

  1. Social Filter

Learning when and how to express thoughts appropriately is an important social skill. Children will explore the concept of a “social filter” and practice ways to communicate respectfully and thoughtfully in different social situations.

  1. Mindful Thinking

Mindfulness helps children become more aware of their thoughts and emotions. Through simple mindfulness strategies, children can learn to pause, reflect, and respond more calmly during stressful moments.

  1. Confidence Building

Confidence grows when children feel capable and supported. Activities throughout the program are designed to help children recognize their strengths, practice positive self-talk, and feel more comfortable expressing themselves.

  1. Friendship Skills

Friendships play a crucial role in a child’s development. Children will explore skills such as active listening, cooperation, empathy, and problem-solving to help them build and maintain meaningful friendships.

  1. Giving Best Efforts

Developing perseverance and a growth mindset can help children approach challenges with resilience. This portion of the curriculum encourages children to focus on effort, learning, and progress rather than perfection.

Who This Program Is For

This program is ideal for children ages 7–12 who may benefit from additional support in areas such as social confidence, emotional regulation, or communication skills. It may be particularly helpful for children who experience worries, have difficulty navigating peer relationships, or would benefit from learning practical strategies to manage emotions and social situations.

Parents often look for opportunities where their child can build emotional skills in a structured, therapeutic environment while still having fun and connecting with others, and this program was designed with exactly that balance in mind.
